Ruth Naomi Floyd is an award winning fine art photographer specializing in black and white
portrait images. Ruth uses silver based films with 35mm and 4x5 inch view cameras to
capture her images and uses traditional wet darkroom technology as well as digital printing
on archival papers to produce her final images. Ruth has received awards, prizes and grants
for her photographic images and her work is included in permanent and private collections.
Ruth exhibits her photographic images in the United States and Europe and is currently
working on a book of photographic images from her body of work,The Veil Series.
Ruth's photographic images have been published in and on the covers of magazines,
brochures and music compact discs. A highly regarded vocalist and composer, Ruth is
passionate about the intersection of the arts with culture and community. She has
shared her knowledge of the arts and culture in universities, seminaries, art centers
and performance centers and also participated in cultural exchanges in the United
Kingdom, Madrid, Hungary, France, Poland and Africa.
2016 FACES EXHIBITION
White Stone Gallery announces an international juried call to photographers for Faces, a portrait photography exhibition celebrating the complex beauty of faces, to be held September 2 - September 23 at the gallery's location in Philadelphia, PA.
The works submitted should be in accordance with White Stone Gallery's approach to engage the viewer through content and aesthetics; to celebrate and examine the human experience through beauty and faith.
Photographs will be displayed unframed with acid free, removable, double sided tape. The gallery's humidity level is kept withing a specific range. The images will receive no direct sunlight. The gallery's air is filtered.
Several images will be selected for exhibition in the Philadelphia location of White Stone Gallery. One artist or more will be awarded a professional critique and a consulting session with the director of White Stone Gallery. Distinguished Mentions and Honorable Mentions will also be awarded.
June 30 - Submission deadline

August 22 thru August 26 - Gallery receives deliveries
September 2 thru September 23 - Exhibition
Must be at least 18 years of age. Eligible entries include only photography. All work must be the original work of the applicant, suitable for gallery installation and available for sale.

In this special exhibition, the photographs will be displayed unframed with acid-free, removeable double sided tape on the back. So simple, yet looks awesome when lit well, does not damage photos and is easier to ship for photographers. The photographs will be safe in a professional gallery environment. The gallery's humidity level is kept within a specific range. The gallery's air is filtered. And the images will not receive direct sunlight.
The works in their shipping materials must be able to fit through the gallery door (79 x 35 inches). We do not accept crates for this exhibit.
All image files should be high resolution quality, minimum 500px wide, file size must be under 10 mb and of the original work.
White Stone Gallery uses an online entry process. There are 5 steps to the entry process.
1. Register - create an id and password. Enter basic artist information.
2. Fill in information about each artwork and upload your images.
You may stop at any time and return to complete your entry simply by logging on again.
Fee: $40 for up to 3 entries; $5 for each additional entry. Nonrefundable. (Keep in mind if your entries are accepted into the exhibition, you will be responsible for shipping labels to/from the gallery.)
After creating your entry online, you will see a button for paying by credit card with or without a PayPal account.
Your entry is not complete until payment has been received.
The names of the accepted artists and their accepted pieces will be posted on this page July 15, 2016. The status of the entries will not be discussed over the phone.
Artists whose works are accepted will need to ship their artwork to the gallery to arrive August 22 thru August 26, 2016. There will be no exceptions. In order to insure the quality of the exhibition, accepted works may be withheld from the exhibition at the gallery's discretion. Accepted works must remain with the gallery for the duration of the exhibit.
The artist is responsible for shipping the selected artwork to and from the gallery. The artwork should arrive with a prepaid return shipping label.
A 30% commission will be retained by White Stone Gallery on all sales. Works will be sold at the price indicated on the entry form, unless changed through a mutual decision between the artist and the gallery.
